Kia ora wonderful artists,
Anna here from The Wanda Foundation, bringing you an update on the upcoming ‘Our World Inside a Suitcase‘ project.
It has been a delight to see some truly wonderful submissions coming in across Otago and Southland.
Please note: We have extended the submission date from May 8th to MONDAY 25th MAY
Here’s what you need to know:
- The exhibition space will be set up on King’s Birthday (Monday 1st June) at Invercargill’s Whare Taupua Gallery and will run throughout the month of June.
- All submissions need to be dropped to Whare Taupua by Monday 25th May. (Please reach out if you need support with this by emailing me here).
- There are still suitcases available for this project. They can be picked up at Stitch Kitchen in Dunedin or Whare Taupua in Invercargill, so please feel free to pass this on to anyone interested. Please let us know if you or a friend collect one so we can keep you in the loop with what’s happening.
I have reattached the project guidelines.
Be sure to include a bio with your submission and a photo of your team/yourself. Here’s an example of one artist’s photo of herself (She is now 40).

Please also give your project a title.
We ask that all artists clearly state which one of the following options you choose in regards to what happens to your project following the exhibition.
Please also ensure your artwork is clearly named somewhere (a sticker with name, number, town and email somewhere works well), and that the lid can be securely shut so your work is kept safe during transportation.
We are in the process of updating our website with news about the project, so check in there towards the end of the week to find this info there.
For many of you, this will be your first experience, being part of an exhibition.
For those of you leading a group project, we thank you for your time and energy in offering this to your community/school/centre.
We can’t WAIT to see what you all create.
We look forward to exhibiting your creations.
Anna, Mark, Payton, Rebekah and Zabeen
